  • Artwork Information:

    • Believed to have been painted around 1930 by a famous Dutch painter and art theoretician Piet Mondrian, this Composition II with Red, Blue, and Yellow is considered to be the epitome of the neo-plasticism movement.  After he moved to Paris in 1918 and began experimenting more with abstract art with bold colors as well as geometric shapes and patterns, his style is said to have "matured" around 1920-1921 when he created Tableau I with the famous red, blue, yellow, and white rectangular shapes over thick black lines boldly painted on the canvas.
