  • Artwork Information:

    • A very famous Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi from the late 1830's, depicting a scene of a traditional folklore Utōyasutaka-chūgiden, where a giant skeleton monster (or Yōkai) summoned by Princess Takiyasha (on the far left) is attacking the protagonist, Ōtakurou Mitsukuni.
    • Princess Takiyasha is the daughter of Taira Masakado, and after his death she pledges to avenge him.  She wreaks havoc around town with her army of Yōkai, and Ōtakurou Mitsukuni with his clan must stop them.
    • This piece has been an inspiration to a variety of popular modern Japanese anime's and manga's, including Neon Genesis Evangelion and Attack on Titan
